About Bref
Bref means “brief” in French.
We built Bref because staying on top of the email newsletters we cared about slowly
became more overwhelming than invigorating. Dozens of emails of great writing, arriving
all day, every day, mostly unread.
Bref doesn't ask you to subscribe to any newsletters you don't already read. It takes
the newsletters you're subscribed to, the ones you chose because you're interested in
them, and combines the best parts into a single, well-organized digest, delivered once
a day, on your schedule. But Bref doesn't stop at summarizing — it pulls out the numbers
worth remembering, spotlights ideas that deserve further context, calls out the
one story most worth your two minutes, and draws the connections between stories that
would otherwise read as unrelated.
The goal is simple: staying informed should be exciting, and it shouldn't take longer
than a coffee break (nor should it cost more than one). That's why Bref Pro is
$4.99 a month (plus tax).

What is Bref, exactly?+
Bref is a newsletter digest tool. You get a personal @mail.brefdigest.com
address, subscribe to newsletters with it (or redirect existing subscriptions there), and
each day Bref reads everything that came in, groups it by theme, and sends you one clean
summary — with the full original newsletters always a click away on your dashboard.
How does it actually work?+
Newsletters land at your Bref address, get parsed and stored, and — at the time you
choose — get grouped into themed sections and summarized into a digest email. Sign-up
confirmations and one-time codes are detected automatically and forwarded to you right
away, so they never get stuck waiting for the next digest.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?+
Free covers up to 4 newsletters a day with a standard digest. Pro raises that to 25 a day
and adds a custom digest style — you can pick the tone (bullets, narrative, TL;DR, or a
balanced hybrid) and add your own instructions for how Bref should write your digest.
How do I get my Bref address?+
It's created automatically when you sign up — you'll find it on your dashboard and in
Settings. From there, just update your newsletter subscriptions to use it, or set up a
forwarding rule from your existing inbox.
Can I keep certain newsletters out of my digest?+
Yes — under Settings → Digests → "Don't digest," you can exclude specific senders. Their
emails still arrive and stay visible in your inbox — they just won't be grouped or
summarized.
Is my data private?+
Your newsletters are yours — they're used only to build your own digest, processed by AI
solely to generate your summaries (never used to train any model), and never shared or
sold. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings. See

Can I choose when I get my digest?+
Yes — pick a delivery time and time zone under Settings → Digests. Bref uses your local
time, not server time, so your digest lands at the same wall-clock hour year-round even
across daylight saving changes.
If I get a lot of newsletters, will anything ever get dropped?+
Free covers up to 4 newsletters a day, Pro up to 25. Anything beyond that on a given day
isn't included in that digest — you'll see exactly which newsletters were skipped and why
on your dashboard.
What happens on a day with nothing new to digest?+
You'll get a one-time notice that your digests are pausing. After that, Bref stays quiet —
no repeated empty emails — until a new newsletter arrives, at which point your regular
schedule automatically picks back up.
How do I cancel?+
If you're on Pro, head to Settings → Payments → Manage billing to cancel your
subscription anytime — no calls, no forms; you'll keep Pro access until the end of your
current billing period. If you're on the Free plan (or just want to stop receiving
digests without canceling anything), you can pause digest delivery anytime from
Settings → Digests. Nothing else about your account changes, and you can turn it back
on whenever you like. Either way, your account itself can also be deleted entirely from
Settings if you'd rather stop using Bref altogether.
I deleted my account by mistake — can I get it back?+
Yes, for up to 30 days. Deleting your account doesn't erase it immediately — it's kept in a
30-day recovery window before anything is permanently removed. To get it back, just sign in
again with your original email and password; we'll email you a link to confirm the
reactivation. After 30 days, deletion is final and can't be undone.
